In the early days of Evolving Media, we collaborated with other design companies in the industry. One such company subcontracted us to design and lay out a series of books on Canadian canola: one in English, one in French, and one in Farsi. Agriculture Canada published the books internationally.
Of particular note, the client did not want to spend $1,200 on an Arabic typeface for the Farsi version. We met with the project manager at Agriculture Canada and devised a solution. An electronic text document was sent to the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa, which printed the file using their fonts on a black-and-white laser printer. The resulting pages were scanned, compared, and formatted twice for review before the book could be sent to press.
