Worked directly with Health Canada’s scientific and communications teams to interpret strict branding requirements, containment-level symbolism, and multilingual layout constraints while preserving a unified visual identity across all three editions.
Asset Preparation
Meticulously edited high-resolution scientific imagery provided by Health Canada (including microscopic views and containment symbols); colour-corrected, enhanced, and optimized every photograph to meet the exacting standards of government printing while maintaining visual impact within the official Health Canada colour palette.
Design Excellence
Created a striking, full-bleed wrap-around cover featuring a dynamic microscopic texture overlay, bold containment-level icons, and perfectly balanced bilingual (and later trilingual) titling. The final design achieved a rare blend of scientific authority and aesthetic sophistication, distinguishing the 3rd Edition from all previous versions.
Offset Printing
Delivered press-ready, CMYK-optimized files with exacting specifications for spine width, bleed, and barcode placement; supplied separate high-resolution editions for English, French, and Russian print runs, ensuring flawless reproduction by government printers in Canada and abroad.

Trilingual Book Cover Series (2004) - 3rd Edition
In 2004, Health Canada entrusted me to design a distinctive, authoritative wrap-around cover for the landmark Laboratory Biosafety Guidelines, 3rd Edition. The publication required a design that projected scientific credibility and visual clarity across both official languages (English and French), as well as Russian for international distribution to laboratories worldwide.
Working directly with Health Canada's publishing team, I developed a layout that balanced the strict requirements of biological safety containment with a clean, modern aesthetic designed to remain timeless across cultures and languages.
The resulting cover series accompanied thousands of copies distributed to containment laboratories globally, serving as the recognizable face of Canada’s biosafety standards for over two decades.
