“With the right ingredients and know-how, a professionally constructed, cinematic video is a surefire way of enticing your potential client to buy your products or services.

It doesn’t have to be a big affair” — Jeff Poissant, RGD.

In addition to operating the business, I’ve worked full-time as a Unit Media Specialist for five years, from December 2, 2019 to December 30, 2024. In this role, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Chairs, Directors, program administrators, researchers, and other team members from various academic units within the Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. I managed multiple large-scale projects through effective teamwork, including redesigning and developing the websites for the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, the School of Social Work, The War in Ukraine Observatory Portal (EURUS), and the Sustainable Energy Program, which also involved filming interviews, creating promotional videos, magazines, brochures, and photographing students in class.

Demo of filming a live event, School of Social Work Black History Month, at Carleton University in March 2024 by Jeff Poissant, Unit Media Specialist in the Faculty of Public Affairs.

This diversity of collaborations showcases my adaptability and versatility in working with different academic units in a university setting or within your business or organization – Collaboration is key.

Video is no longer a luxury but a necessity and a real game-changer. People increasingly view and make decisions based on what they see and hear on their smart devices. Whether they’re viewing videos on YouTube, TikTok, or social media shorts, don’t miss out on these opportunities to make your brand accessible!

According to Hubspot, 71% of consumers are more likely to purchase based on a social media reference, and according to Google, 55% of those consumers use videos to make their final decisions.

Statistics by DemandSage further confirm that as of December 2023, YouTube is the second most prominent social media vehicle in the world, with over 2.7 billion active users. Only Facebook, with a 2.9 billion-member user base, holds the number one spot.
