Evolving Media Chronicles:
The holiday issue

Welcome to the December 2025 edition of Evolving Media Chronicles, your trusted source for insights on digital design, media innovation, and secure online practices. At Evolving Media & Design Inc., we believe in empowering our clients with knowledge that not only inspires creativity but also safeguards their digital world. This month, as we celebrate Christmas and look forward to the New Year—welcome, 2026! It’s hard to believe another year has flown by. As 2025 winds down, this is the perfect time to reflect on our achievements and prepare for what lies ahead.

Whether you’re a business owner, manager, non-profit leader, or valued subscriber, we recommend taking a few simple but critical steps before the year ends:
  • Review and strengthen your password procedures
  • Inventory all of your social media accounts
  • Designate a trusted person with access to your social media accounts and passwords
  • Create a secure hard copy (or encrypted digital backup) of your master password list and store it in a safety deposit box or other secure location your trusted person can access
  • Update your spam and phishing defence practices
  • Prepare a “digital will”: a clear list of your online accounts (subscriptions, social media, licensing agreements, etc.) with instructions on how to manage or close them in case of incapacity or death.
  • Review your content backup procedures. Are your digital assets safe?
Our online magazine, Evolving Media Chronicles, dedicated the Spring issue to this topic: “Protecting Your Digital Legacy: What Happens to Your Online Life When You’re Gone?” If you missed it, we invite you to catch up—it’s essential reading.

At Evolving Media & Design Inc., we offer web hosting services on Canadian servers, a FREE basic Domain Level SSL Security Certificate to ensure your site loads over HTTPS, and your WordPress site is protected with Imunify360, a 6-layer web defence firewall that stops hackers in their tracks.

Published twice a year, Evolving Media Chronicles also keeps you updated with regular articles on our website at evolvingmedia.com. In the latest edition, explore our latest project highlights and stay informed on key trends shaping the media landscape.

Thank you for being part of our community—let’s continue to evolve together!

2025 Media Trends:
Key Shifts to Watch in 2026

As we close out 2025, the media landscape has evolved dramatically, driven by technology, consumer behaviour, and platform innovations. Here’s a snapshot of the top trends that defined this year and will continue to shape strategies in 2026 — perfect timing for your 2026 planning.
  • Social Platforms as Dominant Media HubsSocial media has officially overtaken traditional search and TV for content discovery. YouTube (used by 84% of consumers), Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Reddit now lead the way. Short-form video is still king, yet long-form content is surging — think
Chris Williamson’s podcast episodes ranging from 16 minutes to three-and-a-half hours, Jasmin Laine ’s punchy 24-minute conversations that pack a serious punch, or The Diary of a CEO consistently delivering two-hour deep dives that keep millions hooked.
  • Boom in Social Commerce and Shoppable Experiences
Platforms like TikTok Shop and Instagram Checkout turned browsing into buying overnight — proven 1.8× more effective than traditional digital ads. Average sales per buyer are projected to reach $1,223 by 2027. In 2026, expect connected TV (CTV) and streaming services to make shoppable ads mainstream.
  • Rise of Niche Communities and Authentic Engagement
Micro-communities on LinkedIn, Reddit, Discord, and private Slack/WhatsApp groups are where real loyalty lives. Brands that leaned into user-generated content (UGC), behind-the-scenes stories, and genuine interaction won big — 15.5% of marketers made UGC their top priority in 2025. Nostalgia marketing (90s/Y2K aesthetics) continues to captivate Gen Z and Millennials alike.
  • Algorithmic Media and Retail Media Networks (RMNs)
Over 200 retail media networks now make every impression addressable, measurable, and accountable across online and in-store purchases. Savvy brands paired social listening tools with rapid-response content to ride (or spark) viral moments.

Why this matters to you

At Evolving Media & Design Inc., we live and breathe these trends every day. Whether you need scroll-stopping short-form videos, in-depth long-form storytelling, shoppable product reels, authentic UGC campaigns, nostalgia-driven branding, or commercial print that still turns heads — we create content that performs across every platform and medium you use. Ready to make 2026 your strongest year yet?

Recent Project Spotlight:
New Company Logos

Pivot Research

Recreate a new company logo for Pivot Research based on a small JPEG image provided and recreated by Jeff Poissant in scalable vector format. During the design process, working with the client, modifications and refinements were made during the redevelopment phase.

Evolving Media & Design was delighted to create a fresh company logo for Pivot Research, a Toronto-based firm. Starting from the client’s rough sketch, we delivered a clean, modern identity they love.
